A Finish Date the month after the day

The cleanup was supposed to end, and then the next month quietly joined it. A project that ends is allowed to end. The next month is a new yes, not a habit.

Hold the day

Ending is the product

You looked for a service because something in the open-ended version had failed you. If the cleanup quietly becomes a monthly job, you have bought the thing you were trying to leave. The named day is the end. We treat that end as a success, not as a cliff we have to hide.

Relief is supposed to show up there. The bank ties. The list of open items is short or empty. You can see the month. That feeling does not require us to keep the login forever.

What the next month would be

If you want the month after, it is a close on a rhythm. The same tie, the same cards, the same questions answered before the month is called done. It is not a lighter version of the cleanup, and it is not free because the file is already open. It is the ordinary work of a month, priced and written as itself.

Some owners want that. The books stay current because someone is still watching. That is a fair want. It is just not the same want as a project with an end. We will not make you choose on the same line.

How the handoff works if you stop

If you stop at the day, you leave with statements, a list of what was tied, and a note of anything still open on purpose. The login can stay yours. A question that comes up later is a new note, not proof that the project failed to end.

We write the handoff so a future preparer can see where the day was. Without that, the next person starts over and you pay for the count twice. The point of the day is that the next person does not have to.

A yes that can wait

You do not have to decide about the next month before the cleanup starts. You can see the day land, feel the difference, and then ask. A practice that requires the monthly yes up front is selling the monthly work and using the cleanup as the door.

Ask when you are ready. The paper for that month will name its own close. It will not borrow the drama of the catch-up.

Open a time

Say if you want the month after.

I want the cleanup to end, and I want the next month to be a separate question.
