A Finish Date payday while the months are open

The provider's calendar stays the calendar

If a company already has a payroll provider, that provider keeps running payday on the schedule you already have. We do not step into the middle of a deposit and we do not become a second place that pushes the button. Two places pushing the button is how a tax payment gets made twice, or not at all.

What we do is make the books able to receive that activity. The wage accounts exist. The tax liabilities have a home. A payment to the agencies is not buried in a generic expense where nobody can find it later.

Setup is the sentence we will say

Setup is registrations, a clear start, the difference between a wage and a draw, and a provider chosen or already in place. It is the conversation that lets payday be boring. Boring is the goal.

We will not describe that work as processing. Processing is the provider's job, on the provider's calendar, with the provider's filings. Our named day does not move because a Friday fell in the middle of a catch-up week.

What the open months still have to show

While old months are being tied, payroll from those months still has to land in the right place. Wages, taxes withheld, the employer share, the payment that actually left the bank. If those four do not agree, the month is not current, even if the staff was paid on time.

A mismatch here is ordinary and fixable. It is also one of the places a cleanup goes quiet, because the amounts feel official. A printed total can still be untied. The statement from the agency and the books still have to meet.

Contractors are a January question you can list now

People you paid who were not on payroll may need a form in January. The instructions print the dollar line. We list who was paid and leave the threshold where the instructions put it. The list is much easier to build while the months are open than in the last week of January from a feed.

That list can be a line on the engagement. It is not automatic. If you want it, say so. If your provider already keeps it, we will not rebuild it for show.
